Revive Dry Hair With These Tips

Having dry hair in a tropical country with humid weather isn’t surprising, but that doesn’t mean you have to put up with it!

Dry hair may be caused by various external factors. Elements like heat and diet can alter your hair’s health. If you also grow your hair, it’s more likely that the ends could be dry and brittle, due to them being around and exposed longer. Because of these, your hair’s shield has depleted leading to its weak, coarse state.

To bring back the bounce, shine, and life to your locks, you can try any of these tips:

1. Avoid heat as much as possible

Save your hair by laying off the iron, curler, and even the blow dryer. Extreme heat can draw out all the moisture in your hair and can lead to breakage. After washing your hair, settle with air drying it to avoid further damage.

2. Don’t use a regular towel to dry your soaking strands

Towels are a big no-no. You may have been used to it by now, and we can say the same for us. However, the texture of most towels are thick and fibrous, which can damage hair shafts and cause split ends. Instead, you can use an old t-shirt or piece of clothing that has a softer fabric which won’t tug at your hair or apply too much friction. If you must use a towel, just do patting motions instead of rubbing or applying too much pressure to get water out.

3. Get a trim (or a haircut)

Remember we mentioned earlier that longer hair could mean more damaged hair? A trim or a haircut could fix that. The driest parts of your hair will no longer affect the rest of the healthy areas and a cut will improve the overall look. Take those pesky strands away!

4. Use milder hair products

Give your hair some rest by shifting to milder products for washing. Shampoos and conditioners that are milder than the usual market products still provide cleansing, without drying out your scalp and hair. Check the labels before buying, do some research, and steer away from those with Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) or Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) in their ingredients. SLS/SLES are cleaning agents that are so harsh, that they will strip away even the natural oils that both your scalp and hair need.

5. Give yourself a hair treatment

The same way you get a facial, a foot spa, or a full body massage, treat your scalp and hair to restore and retain its glory. You can do an occasional deep clean and hair treatment to give nourishment.

There are many products in the market that can address and target specific hair concerns. Radico offers a wide range of powders made from 100% natural herbs that can improve hair health. For hair fall problems, the Amla and Methi powders improve scalp health and promote hair strength; while the Reetha and Henna powders condition the hair, giving it shine, bounce, and volume.
